Lodovico IGT Toscana 2016: A Rare Expression from Biserno Estate.
Lodovico stands as a rare and astonishing blend from the renowned Biserno Estate. The quest for exceptional terroirs led us to identify specific plots within our estate, showcasing an ideal terroir for Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Recently, the discovery of the Vigna Lodovico parcel, boasting a unique microclimate and terroir, hinted at a qualitatively superior outcome.
Recognizing the exceptional individuality of this wine, we committed to meticulous attention to detail. Lodovico, an extraordinary wine, is available in extremely limited quantities exclusively through select wine merchants.

Varieties: Predominantly Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and a small amount of Petit Verdot.
Soil & Vineyards: The soil is a blend of clay and Bolgheri conglomerate. Planting took place in 2002, utilizing the spurred cordon training system with a density of 6,500 vines per hectare.
Harvest: Manual harvesting in 15 kg crates occurred from the last week of August to October 3 in 2012.
Vinification: Grapes are meticulously selected on a vibrating sorting table, followed by destemming and gentle crushing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks for 3-4 weeks with controlled temperatures at 28°C. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrels for 50% of the mass.
Aging: The wine ages for 16 months in new French oak barrels and further refines in the bottle for an additional 12 months.

Tasting Notes: Ripe black fruit aromas on the nose. The palate exhibits concentration and structure with velvety tannins. Exceptional depth, good acidity, and excellent balance in the mouth.
